ENTRY Phlebotomist I

Phlebotomy Technician

Pay Range: $12.75hr - $17.75hr

Requirement/Must Have:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Phlebotomy experience is required, including internship or externship experience to learn the basics.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of client-facing customer service experience is required (e.g., Retail, Home Health Aide).
• Keyboard and data entry experience is required.
• Ability to handle patients with care and compassion while assisting with check-ins in the lobby through either a self-service kiosk or handheld tablet.
• Willingness to work both in the lobby and in a draw room with patients to help with coverage for breaks.
• Ability to perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• High level of customer service experience and skills are critical to this role.

Responsibilities:

• Greet patients upon arrival and answer questions or concerns with care and compassion.
• Maintain the integrity of the waiting area and assist with patient flow.
• Assist with coverage for breaks when other staff members are unavailable.
• Utilize phlebotomy skills to support the organization’s clinical needs.
• Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining scheduled procedures to patients in a safe and accurate manner.
• Demonstrate excellence in customer care while focusing on process skills and sensitivity to confidentiality.
• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Promote a positive image to patients, clients, and the public.
• Assist patients with checking in at the kiosk and ensure they are comfortable while waiting for laboratory services.
• Fill in for breaks and cover for staffing shortages as needed.
