Dr. Shelley Liu, Associate Professor of Population Health Science and Policy, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join her NIH R01-funded research program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This position focuses on applying and developing item response theory (IRT) and Bayesian psychometric methods for PFAS (per‑and polyfluoroalkyl substances) biomarker data — a novel and growing application space at the intersection of quantitative methodology and environmental health. The postdoc will lead methods development in IRT and psychometric methods and will have the opportunity to publish first‑author papers and collaborate within a medical school, serving as an excellent launchpad for a faculty career in quantitative psychology or psychometrics. The position is available to begin immediately and hybrid/primarily remote work arrangements are negotiable. Responsibilities Lead methods development in IRT and psychometric methods for PFAS biomarker data. Conduct expertise in IRT, psychometrics, and Bayesian inference. Optionally develop cognitive diagnostic models and apply causal inference. Publish multiple first‑author methods papers and co‑author additional publications. Develop collaborations at a medical school. Qualifications Doctoral degree in psychology, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field. Strong background in IRT and psychometrics. Experience with Bayesian inference. Optional: Experience in cognitive diagnostic models and causal inference. Demonstrated track record of research productivity. Compensation The salary range for the role is $72,500 – $80,000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need and do not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation.
