Nurse Practitioner

GI - Old Saybrook - NURSE PRACTITIONER (APRN) OR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTIn collaboration with attending surgeons, this role delivers skilled health care across diverse clinical settings and supports the clinical management of patients by working closely with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the health care team. Responsibilities include applying the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, addressing actual or potential surgical needs in accordance with established practices, standards, protocols, and guidelines.Job ResponsibilitiesProvides direct patient care in office consultations, including assessment, workups, triage, emergency work-ins, and other patient care activitiesObtains and documents health history, performs and documents physical exam, and orders and interprets diagnostic testsProvides counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatmentObtains Consents for Smart pill and Manometry proceduresScrub MD scheduled to add follow upsIT liaison for MMC and SVMC ex. Missing studies and shared drive issuesAttend staff meetings on Motility Orders Workflow Ex. Outside referrals/orders placed incorrectlyManage triaged inbox messages ex. med refillsRead and interpret breath testsProvide education for Motility SpreadsheetAttend weekly meetings with MDs to discuss complex patientsShift – 40 hours per week.QualificationsMaster's degree in nursingNational Certification in Advanced Practice and current CPR certificationCurrent State of CT APRN license with prescriptive authority and current DEA number & 100% attendance to maintain annual mandatory skill updates2 years of experience in general surgery/colorectal surgery, ambulatory surgery or acute care setting for surgical care preferredExcellent clinical management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take lead when appropriate
