Grants Project Specialist

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to support educational programs within a structured learning environment. The ideal candidate will assist teachers with classroom activities, student supervision, lesson preparation, and academic support while fostering a safe, positive, and engaging learning atmosphere for students in grades 6-12.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organization.
• Prepare, distribute, and collect instructional materials and assignments.
• Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups.
• Assist with classroom management and daily educational activities.
• Support students who require accommodations or additional assistance.
• Help students understand assignments, coursework, and challenging concepts.
• Assist students with special learning needs, including disabilities and English Language Learners (ELL).
• Collaborate with teachers to identify student challenges and support strategies.
• Monitor student behavior and promote a safe, respectful learning environment.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Follow all school policies, procedures, and educational guidelines.
• Encourage student engagement, participation, and academic growth.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Teacher Assistant Training Program Certificate or at least six (6) months of related experience.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
• Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic educational environment.
• Ability to effectively engage students in grades 6-12.
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

• Training in classroom instruction, educational support, or teaching practices.
• Experience working with students with special needs.
• Experience supporting English Language Learner (ELL) students.
• Understanding of educational best practices and classroom management techniques.
• Experience in alternative education, youth services, or structured learning environments.
