Job Description
Registered Respiratory Therapist

Summary:

Responsible for providing pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. This role involves performing patient assessments and implementing respiratory care plans, as well as executing various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the medical facility.

Responsibilities:

• Meet expectations of applicable competencies, including Leadership of Self, Leadership of Others, or Leadership of Leaders.
• Participate in emergency response (Code Blue and White).
• Manage airway including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
• Deliver aerosolized medications.
• Set up and operate ventilators.
• Provide oral hygiene care.
• Manage airway supporting devices, including BiPAP and CPAP.
• Administer oxygen delivery devices and perform therapeutic monitoring.
• Analyze chest films and collect and analyze blood gases.
• Conduct EKG analysis.
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation.
• Clean and stock equipment and supplies as necessary.
• Engage in CAP and JC surveys.
• Function as Shift Leader or Team Leader when necessary.
• Utilize advanced practice skills, which may include therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assistance, hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, nocturnal SpO2 evaluations, polysomnography, and transport duties.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

Refer to licensure and/or certification requirements for specifics.

Experience

1-3 years of experience is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• RT or RCP License in the state of Texas required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the NBRC required.
• BLS certification required (AHA only).
• ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• PALS certification required (AHA only).
• NRP certification required.

Work Schedule:

Operating hours are 6:45 AM - 7:00 PM.
