Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager (Team Lead) to be based in Denver, CO. This role is a senior leadership position within AECOM’s Buildings + Places electrical engineering practice, responsible for technical excellence, people leadership, and electrical discipline delivery across a diverse portfolio of building projects.The Electrical Engineering Manager will lead and grow our team of electrical engineers supporting projects across commercial, science & technology, aviation, federal, industrial, and mission‑critical markets. Typical project sizes range from $5M to $500M in construction value, with opportunities to support large, complex, multidisciplinary programs.This role is ideal for a senior electrical engineer who has served as a technical lead, project manager, or department‑level leader and is ready to formally step into team leadership, delivery ownership, and practice development responsibilities, while remaining technically engaged in electrical design.About Buildings + PlacesAECOM’s Buildings + Places practice integrates architecture, interiors, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and advisory services to deliver holistic, resilient, and innovative building solutions. Our teams work across the full project lifecycle—from planning and design through construction administration—delivering projects that emphasize performance, sustainability, resiliency, and long‑term value.ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Project LeadershipServe as the electrical discipline lead and formal Engineer of Record for assigned projectsLead electrical design for mid‑size projects and major scopes on large, complex multidisciplinary projectsPerform and review advanced electrical engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reportsProvide technical expertise in:Power distribution and service entrance systemsLighting and lighting controls designEmergency, standby, and critical power systemsGrounding, bonding, and lightning protectionFire alarm, communications, security, and other low‑voltage systemsSupport delivery of resilient, energy‑efficient, and electrification‑focused designsOversee construction administration activities including submittals, RFIs, site observations, and technical issue resolutionRepresent electrical engineering in client meetings, interdisciplinary coordination, and design reviewsPeople & Practice LeadershipLead, manage, and grow electrical engineering teams, including workload planning, resourcing, and technical oversightSupport hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development of Engineer staffProvide performance feedback, goalsetting, and career guidance aligned with AECOM expectationsMentor engineers toward professional licensure, technical upskilling, and future leadership rolesFoster a culture of quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementSupport workforce forecasting and coordination with discipline, department, and regional leadershipDelivery Ownership & Business SupportOwn electrical discipline delivery on assigned projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget performanceAct as an Electrical Lead, supporting scope development, staffing plans, and coordinationContribute to technical proposals, pursuit strategies, interviews, and client presentationsSupport and strengthen client relationships through trusted technical leadershipAssist discipline leadership with development of standards, tools, and delivery best practicesThought Leadership & Regional CollaborationParticipate in technical reviews, internal knowledge sharing, and mentoring initiativesCollaborate with electrical teams across the large network of AECOM officesSupport innovation initiatives related to digital delivery, sustainability, and resilient infrastructureParticipate in shaping regional technical standards, and innovation initiatives within the Buildings + Places practiceCareer Path & GrowthThis role provides a clear pathway toward Senior Engineering Manager, Electrical Discipline Lead, or broader multidisciplinary leadership roles within AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice. The position offers long‑term opportunity to expand leadership scope, regional impact, and influence technical strategy.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering12+ years of electrical engineering experienceLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado or ability to obtain via comity within 6 monthsStrong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IES, and applicable building codesExperience designing building electrical systems including power, lighting, emergency, and low‑voltage systemsProficiency with electrical analysis and design tools such as SKM, ETAP, Easypower, Revit, and AutoCADStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to perform site visits; valid driver’s license requiredPrior experience in a team lead, department lead, or mentoring‑heavy roleExperience with aviation, federal, mission‑critical, or science & technology facilitiesBackground in resilient power systems, microgrids, electrification, or sustainability‑driven designAdvanced BIM coordination experienceCredentials such as LEED AP, CEM, or NCEES RecordAdditional InformationDue to the nature of the work, sponsorship is not available for this position.This position requires a hybrid work schedule with regular in-office presence in Denver, CO.About AECOMAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
