Residential Landscape Design Consultant

Design Exceptional Outdoor Environments. Own the Client Experience. MBL is seeking a talented Residential Landscape Design Consultant to join our growing design team. This is an opportunity for an experienced and creative designer who wants far more than a drafting role. We are looking for a professional who can confidently lead clients through the entire design journey, from the initial site visit and concept development through design presentation, revisions, budgeting discussions, and project handoff. At MBL, our designers are not hidden behind a computer producing construction documents all day. They meet directly with homeowners, design luxury outdoor environments, present concepts in immersive 3D renderings, and take ownership of projects from concept to construction handoff. A portfolio is required for consideration. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong design capability through completed professional, academic, or personal design work. We are looking for individuals who possess both technical design skills and a strong creative eye. What You'll Do Lead Residential Landscape Design Projects Meet directly with homeowners and guide them through the design process Conduct site visits, gather field measurements, elevations, photographs, and project data Create conceptual landscape designs for luxury residential properties Pools and water features Pergolas and structures Driveways and circulation Planting plans Retaining walls and grading solutions Balance aesthetics, functionality, constructability, and client goals Present and Refine Design Concepts Present design concepts using advanced 2D and 3D visualization technology Guide clients through immersive design reviews Collaborate with homeowners to refine designs and incorporate feedback Serve as the primary design resource throughout the design phase Build trust with clients and provide expert recommendations regarding design solutions, phasing, and budget considerations Own Client Relationships Act as the primary point of contact throughout the design process Communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, contractors, and interior designers Navigate high-expectation clientele with confidence and professionalism Translate client ideas into creative and executable design solutions Help clients understand design decisions, project costs, and value-driven alternatives Work closely with estimating and production teams Support project budgeting through quantity takeoffs and design documentation Help ensure a smooth transition from design into construction Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives What We're Looking For Required Portfolio showcasing residential landscape design work Experience creating original landscape designs rather than solely producing construction documents Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills Ability to independently manage projects and client relationships Proficiency with CAD-based design software Ability to perform site visits and field measurements Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to project sites Preferred Degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or related field Experience within a residential landscape architecture, landscape design-build, or luxury outdoor living environment Experience creating 3D renderings and visual presentations Knowledge of grading, drainage, retaining walls, planting design, and residential site planning Experience working directly with high-end residential clientele Ideal Backgrounds We are particularly interested in candidates from: Design-Build Landscape Companies High-End Residential Design Studios Experience from firms focused on custom residential projects is highly valued.
