Principal Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership across software architecture, engineering modernization, and technology innovation.

The Principal Engineer will play a key role in creating scalable, reliable, and high-performing software solutions while modernizing existing platforms and establishing engineering standards and best practices. This role requires a strong combination of software architecture, hands-on development, DevSecOps, engineering leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate will be able to work at both the architecture and code level, influence technical strategy, mentor engineering teams, and drive the adoption of modern engineering practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive and evangelize architecture strategies for new and existing platforms and applications.
• Provide technical thought leadership, strategic direction, consulting, standards, and technology guidance aligned with business objectives.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance scalable software architectures.
• Develop architecture strategies, frameworks, standards, and governance processes.
• Establish long-term software architecture direction and ensure effective technology investment decisions.
• Partner with stakeholders and product owners to improve engineering transparency, manage technical costs, and support service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and modernization.

• Establish and promote modern software engineering principles, guidelines, processes, tools, and reusable components.
• Develop and drive adoption of standardized engineering practices across product and engineering teams.
• Improve engineering workflows to increase efficiency, collaboration, scalability, and developer productivity.
• Promote reusable software libraries, frameworks, components, and development tools.
• Help modernize legacy platforms and establish sustainable engineering practices.

• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams and cross-functional initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and promote continuous technical growth and knowledge sharing.
• Develop or identify engineering training programs and learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, business, and other stakeholders to identify technology improvements and innovative solutions.
• Provide guidance on technology selection, technical feasibility, implementation approaches, and architecture decisions.
• Influence technical decisions and build alignment across diverse teams and stakeholders.

• Promote DevSecOps principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Establish and promote best practices for CI/CD, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational reliability.
• Support the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern deployment practices.
• Ensure software solutions meet appropriate standards for scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Work with engineering teams to improve development and delivery processes using Agile methodologies.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Architect, Principal Engineer, or similar technical role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong expertise in software development, frameworks, technologies, and modern engineering practices.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale software architectures.
• Deep hands-on development experience with the ability to translate architecture into working software.
• Experience establishing architecture and successfully driving its adoption across engineering organizations.
• Strong understanding and practical experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Proven engineering leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, product owners, business stakeholders, and technical leaders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop innovative technical solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing software for business consulting, professional services, or enterprise SaaS environments.
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in technology communities.
• Demonstrated passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers and technical peers.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to work outside standard business hours when required by unique projects or business needs.
