Summary Echo Cardiology department seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform high quality studies. Studies include transthoracic echo, transesophageal, Definity contrast, saline bubble study, and stress echo. Analysis and evaluation of all studies are prepared by the Sonographer and a preliminary report is sent to the interpreting Cardiologist. The department includes 5 ICUs, one of which is a Newborn ICU; proficiency in pediatrics is a plus. Responsibilities Demonstrates competence in delivering pre‑procedure and post‑procedure patient care including patient assessment and emergency cardiac care (CPR required). Also assists with post‑procedure transport. Ensures equipment is calibrated and properly maintained daily, performs maintenance and quality assurance monitoring, troubleshoots equipment problems, and reports to supervisor or biomedical engineering. Generates ultrasound images of the heart and/or vascular structures, performs advanced cardiac studies on patients with complex conditions, and regularly performs multiple study types with varied anatomical areas. Performs vascular studies and real‑time readings/reports in the operating room for invasive and non‑invasive procedures. Performs studies for inpatient neonatal/NICU and pediatric patients. Might perform staff training, education, and serve as subject matter expert to other Sonographers. Monitors and records patient information, maintains report storage and data systems, compiles and enters data for charge entry, and retrieves stored information. Prepares procedure room and equipment for daily use and ensures timely room preparation between procedures. Responds independently to on‑call needs for emergent procedures. Education Requirements Associate’s degree in Sonography, Radiology or related field within 3 months of hire, OR completion of a 12‑month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire. Licensure / Certification Requirements Registered by ARDMS, CCI, or registry eligible and must become registered within 1 year of hire. Must maintain status and continuing education annually. RDCS or RCS- preferred. Professional Experience Requirements One year minimum experience in an acute hospital setting.
