This dual MESP/MACP position is part‑time (4 hrs/day, 180 days/year) with benefits. Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions Office Assistant II Provide clerical support, answer phones; respond to inquiries from staff, parents, students and general public; direct inquiries to appropriate personnel; schedule appointments; and assist with other duties as directed for the purpose of providing quality customer service. Process various documents and perform functions such as processing mail and responding to inquiries; prepare and mail correspondence; be responsible for a variety of information record‑keeping including fiscal and/or student records; document filing, tracking information, data entry, etc. May assist with student health needs. May serve as a designated first aid provider. May assist with supervision and monitoring of students. Word‑process, type, copy, collate, sort, file and distribute documents to support the efficient operation of school office services. Prioritize and organize tasks for the purpose of meeting deadlines, accessibility of information, and completing job duties in a timely manner. Comply with District Policies. Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor(s) for the purpose of maintaining an organized and efficient environment. Paraeducator Assist teacher(s) with the daily supervision of students for the purpose of maintaining and providing a safe and positive learning environment. Under the teacher’s direction, administer multiple student tests, collect and maintain diagnostic and test data, update student records, and assess student progress. Assist teacher(s) with monitoring and managing student behavior and progress; share observations with teacher(s) and other professional staff. Assist teacher(s) with implementation of various strategies to address diverse student needs and support individual educational growth and achievement goals. Provide clerical and general classroom assistance for staff, which may include collection and data entry of information, correspondence, copying, filing, and preparation of classroom materials. Administer first aid, medical assistance, physical support and personal care for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or disabled children. Provide physical assistance for students with special needs such as feeding, toileting, proper lifting and positioning of students in and out of chairs and with adaptive equipment; assist students with the use of specific equipment related to their disability (e.g., materials, assistive technology, visual aids). Track and dispense authorized student medications. Perform crossing guard duties before and after school to supervise and monitor students. Assist with monitoring students in the cafeteria and/or at recess; assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment for student safety and well‑being. Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of sharing information, improving the employee skills and knowledge, implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs. Comply with District Policies. Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regularly work hours specified. May be subject to reassignment of job duties depending on program, building and student needs. Perform other related job duties as assigned by supervisor(s). Nutrition Service I Assist with preparation of food items daily and in a timely manner, including school entrees, a la carte items and special menu items for the purpose of providing nutritious meals and snacks for students. Assist with supervision of student helpers and substitutes. Assist with all functions and duties in the kitchen including receiving, storing, preparing, serving and clean‑up. Prepare appropriate quantity of food items by reading and interpreting recipes for large quantities, following USDA meal pattern requirements. Assist with preparing daily cash records and comply with all cash handling procedures as trained and outlined in manual. Operate kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, ovens, and warmers for the purpose of preparing food items and maintaining appropriate food temperatures, following health department rules and regulations. Lift up to 35 pounds in various containers using safe lifting techniques for the purpose of preparing and delivering large quantities of food items to serve students. Assist with daily cleanup of kitchen and service areas including cleaning and proper storage of dishes, food items, and kitchen equipment for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions at all times. Practice good safety habits at all times for the purpose of maintaining health and well‑being of school students and staff. Perform other duties as required or assigned including ordering/purchasing food and supplies, preparing inventory, and storing supplies for the purpose of maintaining an organized, efficient and safe work environment. Job Requirements Office Assistant II – Minimum Qualifications Skill and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all individuals in a professional and courteous manner. Knowledge and ability to successfully use basic math and write routine documents using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. Skill and ability with operating office equipment, which may include telephone, computer, typewriter, calculator, copier, laminator and media equipment. Knowledge of and ability to use various software programs related to job responsibilities. Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. Paraeducator – Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of math, spelling, reading, grammar, and punctuation. Desire and aptitude to work with students. Ability to positively and professionally interact with students, supervisors, and staff. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team situation. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage student behavior. Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and meet deadlines in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions. Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate standard classroom equipment. Ability to provide for the physical, health and safety needs of students. Demonstrated ability to provide physical assistance for and properly lift students in and out of chairs in accordance with safe lifting requirements and the use of adaptive equipment as required. Knowledge of computer applications used to assist with student learning. Ability to strengthen job‑related competencies. Nutrition Service I – Minimum Qualifications Ability to read and follow recipes, use kitchen equipment, follow safety and sanitation rules, and requirements to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for students. Complete knowledge of Snohomish County and Washington State food safety, sanitation and proper temperatures including HAACP. Ability to maintain updated knowledge of school policies and procedures that affect the school nutrition services program and this position. Ability to participate in job‑related training. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and parents. Ability to follow and give written and verbal instructions. Ability to do math calculations and make correct change at a high school level. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and to be flexible in meeting deadlines. Ability to correctly and safely lift up to 35 pounds. Education and Training Office Assistant II High school diploma or its equivalent. Word processing accuracy of 50 words per minute. Vocational or technical clerical training preferred. Current First Aid/CPR Certification (Required for Designated First Aid Providers). Paraeducator At least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, OR Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university, OR Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council, OR Received a passing score on one of the following PESB‑approved assessments: ETS ParaPro Assessment. Pearson’s Paraprofessional Assessment. The Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program. Depending on assignment, may be required to complete behavior modification programs, including safe physical restraining techniques and/or other training as required. Nutrition Service I High school diploma or its equivalent. Washington State Health Card Required. Preferred Education and Experience Office Assistant II Speech, Computer Science, Nutrition or a relevant field of study. Paraeducator Associate degree in education, 1‑2 years’ classroom experience, or a related field. Interest in working with students who have language and literacy demands and special educational needs. Previous experience in a school setting preferred. Nutrition Service I ServSafe certification desired. Previous experience in the food industry preferred. Vocational training in the food service industry preferred. Experience Office Assistant II One (1) year of applicable office or clerical experience. Vocational or technical clerical training may substitute for work experience. Paraeducator Job related experience desired. Nutrition Service I Experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred.
