Part-Time Senior Wine Specialist

Job Description:

Scarsdale Wine & Spirits is an independent, family-owned fine wine and spirits merchant located in the heart of downtown Scarsdale, New York. Since opening in 2024, we have quickly built a reputation for exceptional service, thoughtfully selected wines and spirits, and a highly personalized approach to helping our customers.

Our clientele is discerning and engaged. They range from collectors and enthusiasts to business professionals and families who appreciate knowledgeable guidance and a memorable shopping experience. We are not a conventional liquor store. We are building a modern fine wine and spirits shop where relationships, service, and product knowledge matter.

We are seeking an experienced wine professional for a part-time role centered on customer service and sales. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable recommending a Tuesday night Pinot Grigio, selecting wines for a dinner party, or discussing Burgundy, Barolo, or grower Champagne with knowledgeable collectors. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who enjoys people and shares our enthusiasm for wine.

We are a small team and operate very collaboratively. Our buyer, business manager, and ownership group are all actively involved in the business, and no job is beneath anyone. We all stock shelves, receive deliveries, help customers, set up tastings, and pitch in wherever needed. The atmosphere is friendly, supportive, and team-oriented, and we are looking for someone who wants to become part of that culture.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service and thoughtful wine and spirits recommendations

Develop long-term relationships with customers and become a trusted source for everyday purchases, gifts, and cellar selections

Stay current on producers, regions, vintages, and industry trends

Assist with in-store tastings and special events

Maintain an attractive and well-merchandised sales floor

Receive and stock inventory

Process transactions and online orders accurately

Assist with local deliveries when needed

Pitch in wherever necessary to help the team succeed

Qualifications

Minimum three years of experience in wine retail, fine dining, beverage distribution, or a related field

Strong knowledge of wine regions, grape varieties, producers, and food pairings

Proven ability to sell and communicate with a broad range of customers

Professional presence and excellent interpersonal skills

WSET certification or equivalent experience is a plus

Availability for a consistent part-time schedule, primarily Thursday through Sunday, including some evenings and tasting events

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
