Position Overview:
Seeking a Design & Release Engineer responsible for the end-to-end design, development, release, and production support of underbody body structure components made from sheet metal, including steel and aluminum.

The engineer will own components from cradle to grave , working with suppliers, CAE teams, manufacturing, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure components meet design, feasibility, testing, and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and release underbody structure components and subsystems from concept through production.
• Support front structure, dash/cowl, floor panels, and structural reinforcements .
• Perform APQP activities and confirm new-source supplier part feasibility.
• Work with suppliers on stamping and assembly feasibility and resolve manufacturing concerns.
• Maintain and update FedeBOM / AVBOM for assigned components.
• Coordinate and follow through on physical/acceptance testing to ensure parts meet requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations and analytical assessments for structural components.
• Work closely with CAE teams to ensure functional and attribute requirements are achieved.
• Manage engineering changes through Ford systems such as FEDE and WERS .
• Lead and participate in Change Control meetings , presenting proposed changes and coordinating required documentation.
• Own the design, release, development, and ongoing maintenance of assigned components through the complete product lifecycle.
• Support production and ongoing product development (PPD) activities.

Required Skills:

• Design & Release Engineering experience.
• Underbody/body structure component experience.
• Sheet metal design experience, preferably steel and aluminum .
• Stamping and assembly feasibility.
• APQP .
• FedeBOM / AVBOM .
• WERS and engineering change management.
• Change control and change management.
• Engineering calculations and analytical skills.
• Experience working with CAE teams.
• Supplier coordination and production support.

Preferred:

• Experience with Ford Design & Release processes and systems .
• Automotive body structure / BIW experience.
• Experience with front structure, dash/cowl, floor panels, reinforcements, or similar underbody components.

Work Arrangement:

• Hybrid 4 days per week onsite.
• Agency candidates must be onsite from day one .
• In-person interviews may be requested.
• Remote-only candidates should not be submitted.
• Candidates planning to relocate must be willing to relocate at their own expense .
