Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Post Operative Recovery License: RN License required Certifications: BLS Certification required Must-Have: Experience in handling common diagnoses such as Post Operative conditions, Diabetes, Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and cellulitis. Description: The role involves working in a Medical-Surgical department with a capacity of 56 beds across three units. Patient ratios are generally 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 during the night shifts. Common diagnoses include General and Orthopedic Post Operative conditions, as well as general medical issues like Diabetes, CHF, COPD, and cellulitis. The nurse will work with equipment such as BiPAP, High Flow, and Vapotherm, with Respiratory staff managing these devices. Patient monitoring will be done through centralized telemetry, with validation from a telemetry nurse. Charge Nurses on the unit maintain patient assignments, while the Nursing Supervisor is available around the clock without patient assignments. Care team members include nurse aids who assist based on patient acuity and are trained to perform various tasks including phlebotomy. Floating requirements apply for handling overflow situations to other areas, ensuring compliance within scope. The position includes a weekend requirement of every other weekend as well as participation in a holiday rotation. Scrub color is flexible, allowing for any professional appearance.
