POSITION SUMMARY

Performs the acid digestion process of wet chemistry and failure analysis of metallurgical samples using microscopes. Testing metal samples to determine their physical properties. Preparing specimens by grinding, polishing and etching. Calibrates and sets up standardized material/metallographic testing stations. Assist and manages projects related to materials evaluation. Performs test data processing utilizing MS Word and MS Excel. Performs calculations, recording, and verifying of metallographic standards. Education, Experience and Qualifications 0-5 years' experience in materials/metallography laboratory or engineering. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to understand topics related to metallography, thermal spray coating, materials science, hardness, microstructure. Ability to pay meticulous attention to all aspects of a situation or task, no matter how small or seemingly unimportant. Standing / sitting time ratio is 80/20, respectively. Familiarity with aerospace coatings and Lean methodologies are a plus. This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology.
