Job Title: Kitter

Job Description

The Kitting Specialist / Kitting Operator accurately assembles, packages, and stages kits of components and raw materials to support manufacturing operations. This role focuses on ensuring each kit is complete, correctly documented, and delivered to the production floor on time, while maintaining high quality standards and proper inventory records.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve and combine specified components, parts, and materials from storage locations according to work orders and production schedules.
  • Accurately count and verify components to ensure each kit contains the correct quantities and types of items.
  • Package items securely using appropriate methods such as banding, shrink wrap, bins, and trays to prevent damage during transport.
  • Perform packaging tasks that may involve cleaning ink off products and handling materials that can be dirty.
  • Handle returns from the production floor, logging items accurately and documenting reasons for return in the appropriate systems.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked kitting and work areas to support efficient operations.
  • Follow all safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs) while performing kitting and material handling tasks.
  • Ensure all assembled kits meet established quality standards and conform to prescribed specifications.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when counting and assembling components.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Capability to perform general labor tasks in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Ability to work with hand tools and packaging equipment safely and effectively.
  • Good work history demonstrating reliability and consistent performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred but not required.
  • Experience in production, kitting, assembly, material handling, packing, packaging, and picking is beneficial.
  • Comfort working with products that may have ink residue and performing cleaning tasks as needed.

Work Environment

While the facility itself is well maintained, the work can be dirty due to handling kits and products with ink, and ink may get on the skin. Proper hygiene practices are important to manage ink exposure. The role involves general labor, production support, kitting, assembly, material handling, and packing activities within a structured manufacturing setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
