Visual Designer

JOB OBJECTIVE Develop and design high-quality deliverables for digital and print that elevate, differentiate and function on-brand and on-strategy from concept to completion in support of division and company objectives. Understand the competitive space and multiple stakeholders, and follow and continuously improve Encova’s brand standards and guidelines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Layout and design for print, web and multimedia, including type specifications, illustrations, photography, print design, multimedia and other creative processes that combine art and technology to communicate ideas. Use video production, motion graphics and/or UX design to create engaging content. Prepare multi‑channel marketing campaigns and communication materials such as sales collateral, brochures, ads, flyers, social media graphics, presentations, booklets, annual reports, newsletters, public relations material, signage and other traditional and digital advertising. Manage the development and organization of materials for external digital user experiences, supporting marketing and user interface content, usability, information architecture and visual design across desktop, mobile and tablet interfaces. Maintain photography and videography equipment, provide services for events, community projects and social media campaigns, edit and retouch images and videos, and archive assets. Determine print production methods for projects, evaluate bids, select vendors, and oversee outsourced printing to meet quantity, paper, and finishing specifications. Prepare job specifications, evaluate bids and select vendors based on cost, quality, accuracy and production time. Maintain consistency in corporate and brand identity for all visual communications, monitor usage of logos and messaging, and manage shared system files with regular backups. Manage projects, keep team members within established deadlines, and provide creative support to Branding and Communications as well as agents and key stakeholders. Support other visual designers and perform additional duties as assigned. OTHER FUNCTIONS Handle customer or vendor communications to determine print production methods during the initial design phase. Oversee outsourced jobs through completion and maintain image files, purchase and maintenance of licensed images. Provide direction on most appropriate production methods or sourcing for all projects. Develop presentations and supporting materials for company personnel and other stakeholders. Outsource creative services as necessary when project volume exceeds in‑house capacity. Maintain consistency in representation of corporate and brand identity for all visual communications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE BA/BS degree in graphic design, communications, digital media, user experience design or related field (required). High proficiency in design, UX, web and multimedia software and applications such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. Grasp of UX best practices for web and mobile product design and knowledge of website structure best practices and sitemaps. Knowledge of printing procedures, photography, illustration, shooting video, animation and editing. Excellent visual, verbal and written communication skills. Specialized knowledge of graphic design and layout methods and techniques. Corporate experience or related internships in a design position preferred. Understanding of electronic publishing needs of printers and advertising mediums to keep costs low and quality high. Experience with MAC OS and design software packages; knowledge of four‑color production, electronic presentation software, and design requirements for web page development.
