Field Service Technician I

JOB DESCRIPTION

Clean Harbors in Compton, CA is seeking a Field Services Technician I to join our safety conscious team. The role is field-based and involves hazardous waste clean‑up, site‑remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, procedures, and acting safely Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects Operate light and heavy equipment; use hand tools and powered industrial tools; work with vibration‑producing tools Wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, skin, face, hand and foot protection in multiple combinations Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors under all weather conditions Work in atmospheres and locations potentially exposed to chemical, physical, hazardous, toxic or corrosive agents Work in elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and low‑clearance areas Operate at elevations, including from ladders and scaffolding Assist in field sampling activities and meter calibration Climb ladders and scaffolding and enter and exit trucks, tanks, and other containers Work extended (>8 hrs.) time periods Attend all compliance and safety update meetings Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance Safely load and unload hazardous and non‑hazardous waste Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as required Follow all local, state and federal compliance regulations and rules Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state and federal requirements Observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures Observe all company environmental health and safety guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week Handle site‑remediation, equipment decontamination and hazardous material handling duties per position needs

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Reliable transportation Ability to perform the physical functions required by the key responsibilities Agreement to be on‑call for emergency response, including occasional weekend and holiday work and extended response periods up to 12‑24 hrs. Successful completion of a background check, drug test and physical exam as required for the position Compliance with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, for employees required to wear respirators (meet facial hair standards)

Valid driver’s license Previous relevant labor experience
