Maintenance MechanicFriends of the High Line is hiring for a Maintenance Mechanic Position in Greenwich Village, New York City. Base pay starts at $30/hr.The Maintenance Technician (Mechanic) is a full-time, year-round employee of Friends of the High Line. As a member of the Facilities team, the Maintenance Technician (Mechanic) will report to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance and will play a key role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the High Line's unique infrastructural elements, including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pump systems, which consists of the Park and a 4-story commercial building. This position will also be responsible for maintaining the Highline's machinery and gas/electric vehicles fleet.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED3 – 5 years of work experience as an automotive/diesel mechanicDemonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks such as plumbing and electrical.Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and/or a scissor lift while performing job dutiesFamiliar with power tools, small motorized equipment, and vehiclesAble to use technology for work order system through iPad or PCAble to work alone and in groupsCan work outdoors in all weather conditions, sometimes for extended periods of timeAcquire required OSHA, and FDNY certificates of fitnessInteracts well with staff, volunteers, and the public in a highly-visited public spaceGood communication skills and ability to follow oral and written instructionsValid New York State driver's license
