Lab Specimen Processor

The Lab Specimen Processor plays a crucial role in supporting laboratory operations by ensuring biological specimens are accurately received, processed, and prepared for testing and analysis. This position is responsible for maintaining specimen integrity through proper handling, labeling, storage, and documentation while following established laboratory procedures and safety standards. The Lab Specimen Processor works closely with laboratory staff, healthcare providers, and other team members to ensure timely and efficient workflow. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and adherence to quality standards are essential to success in this role. Ultimately, the Lab Specimen Processor contributes to accurate diagnostic results and quality patient care by providing reliable specimen processing services.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and specimen handling procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Laboratory Assistant.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS/LIMS).
  • Knowledge of biosafety regulations and infection control practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Receive, verify, and log incoming specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare specimens for testing through centrifugation, aliquoting, labeling, and other processing activities.
  • Maintain specimen storage areas and ensure proper handling and environmental conditions.
  • Accurately document specimen information and processing activities in laboratory information systems.
  • Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards at all times.
  • Communicate specimen discrepancies or concerns to appropriate laboratory personnel.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to support efficient workflow and timely test processing.
