The Supervisor works under the direction of the Associate Administrator of Advance Practice Providers, Department's Administration and Medical Directors to provide clinical services, leadership and managerial services. The Supervisor facilitates safe and efficient operational flow of the dedicated patient population and supervises nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other personnel. The role functions as part of inter‑professional teams, collaborating with physicians, pharmacists, office staff, and clinical nurse specialists to deliver coordinated care. The Supervisor is responsible for annual reviews, employee counseling, and collaboration with the Department Administrator and Medical Director. Essential Duties Management: Utilizes professional, respectful, effective communication to delegate and direct activities and assignments; supervises, hires, educates, disciplines and evaluates Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant staff; completes performance appraisals; interviews candidates and orients new employees; schedules daily duties; assesses performance; partners with management for staffing; conducts initial daily assessments; oversees education and orientation; serves as clinical resource; models compassion and conflict resolution; collaborates with other disciplines; stays informed of clinical updates; manages time effectively and prioritizes responsibilities; demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment to the mission; participates in departmental activities. Compliance and Performance Improvement: Identifies and participates in data collection and process improvements related to quality indicators; adheres to regulatory agency requirements; reassesses clinic or hospital needs; ensures patient care meets professional standards; identifies barriers to operational flow; evaluates and modifies practices; develops unit‑based quality improvement programs; oversees quality assurance initiatives; implements clinical collaborative practice agreements; stays current on changes and shares information; pursues professional development opportunities; mentors colleagues; applies evidence‑based practice; participates in cost‑effectiveness evaluation; ensures accurate documentation; updates required licenses and credentials; updates policies and procedures; maintains correct electronic health record documentation. Direct Patient Care Accountabilities: Manages care based on appropriate levels; completes patient assessments; interprets assessment information and formulates diagnoses; develops plans of care with individualized interventions; documents expected outcomes; reviews and updates plans daily; performs patient care procedures correctly; delegates tasks within scope; acts as patient advocate; responds promptly to services; provides patient and family education; collaborates with case manager or social work; utilizes patient care equipment safely; communicates effectively with the healthcare team; ensures timely communication of patient needs to providers. Performs other duties as assigned, including participation in unit activities such as process improvement, precepting, and peer education. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Five years’ experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. Strong leadership abilities. Professional, respectful, effective communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Lead, charge, or supervisory experience. Experience in a clinical specialty area. Required Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse (RN, CA) – exempt if Physician Assistant. Nurse Practitioner (NP, CA) – exempt if Physician Assistant. Nurse Practitioner Furnisher (NPF, CA) – exempt if Physician Assistant. National board certification in Nurse Practitioner specialty accredited by ABSNC or NCCA; hospital acute care practitioners must have ANCC or AACN certification (ACNP or AGACNP). Grandfathered for hires before 12/2015. Exempt if Physician Assistant. Physician Assistant (PA, CA) – current license required; exempt if Nurse Practitioner. NCCPA certification – exempt if Nurse Practitioner. DEA Certificate for Schedule II‑V controlled substances. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – required for hospital/acute care and infusion clinic settings. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – required within 30 days of hire if not already obtained.
