Job Summary

Registered Respiratory Therapist, RT PEDS. The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care under physician direction and within the scope of practice. The role supports airway management, ventilator care, patient education, respiratory assessments, and coordinated care for patients across critical, pediatric, and neonatal settings.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) status administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); current North Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Preferred Qualifications: One year of work experience in an adult critical care setting; experience in a pediatric or neonatal care setting; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include administering aerosol medications and oxygen therapy; managing established airways, including aspiration; intubating critical care patients as directed by a physician; selecting specialized ventilator modes; monitoring intubated patients; conducting spontaneous breathing trials and other weaning assessments; evaluating blood-gas levels through arterial punctures; adjusting respiratory equipment parameters; testing respiratory equipment; assessing patient response; and guiding patients through breathing exercises and respiratory care education.
