Qualifications and Experience Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or equivalent credentials Experience providing instruction to students who are blind or have low vision, preferably in elementary and middle school settings Proficiency in Braille instruction and adaptive technology Ability to collaborate with families, support staff, and educational teams Reliable transportation for commuting between school sites Strong communication, organization, and adaptability skills Role Responsibilities Provide direct and consultative instruction tailored to the unique learning needs of visually impaired students Develop and modify Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring compliance and appropriate documentation Employ a variety of instructional strategies, including Braille and assistive technologies Work collaboratively with general education teachers to support inclusion in the classroom Conduct assessments, monitor student progress, and participate in IEP meetings Offer guidance to families and staff regarding accessibility and best practices Travel between assigned schools and districts as part of daily duties Benefits of this Opportunity Full-time, consistent weekday schedule with 37.5 hours per week Opportunity to work with a diverse caseload in both elementary and middle school environments Professional growth in a well-supported school system Impactful and rewarding role helping students achieve their best Step into a valued role shaping the educational experience of students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
