Certified Surgical Technician

Overview Certified Surgical Technologist – Surgery (CST) – Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, TX Full‑time, day shifts, 8‑hour shifts. As a CST, you will assist surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, and sterile surgical environment. Responsibilities Prepare sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure; maintain the sterile field; provide surgeons with supplies and instruments during procedures. Demonstrate independent practice as the primary scrub technician; assume the role of camera holder and retractor holder on more complicated cases. Operate effectively in the following specialties: General Surgery, Urology, Minor Vascular, Eyes (cataracts), GYN, and Hand. Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

Graduate of a Certified Surgical Tech accredited program (CST) with less than one year’s experience in a surgical setting. CST certification upon hire required and to be maintained; non‑certified employees hired before 12/2014 are exempt. Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and to be maintained. Experience scrubbing minor and major procedures in General Surgery, Urology, Eye (cataracts), Gynecology, Minor Vascular, and Hand specialties.
