Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3pm Travel: Required between ACPS school locations Position Summary The Traveling Audiologist will provide comprehensive audiological services to students across multiple Alexandria City Public Schools locations. The Audiologist will assess students' hearing and auditory needs, identify and address hearing-related barriers to learning, participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and collaborate with teachers, special education staff, parents, and other related-service professionals. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently across multiple school locations while maintaining strong communication and organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive hearing screenings and audiological evaluations for students. Assess students for hearing loss, auditory processing concerns, and other hearing-related educational needs. Interpret audiological test results and prepare written evaluation reports. Make recommendations regarding classroom accommodations, assistive listening technology, and educational supports. Participate in IEP meetings and contribute audiological information and recommendations. Provide consultation to teachers, administrators, special education personnel, and families. Monitor students with identified hearing impairments and assess changes in their needs. Assist with the selection, use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hearing assistive technology and related equipment. Coordinate with medical providers and outside audiologists when appropriate. Provide guidance to school personnel regarding classroom acoustics, communication strategies, and hearing accessibility. Maintain accurate student records and documentation in accordance with school district and regulatory requirements. Complete required reports, evaluations, progress documentation, and service logs. Travel between assigned ACPS schools as needed to provide services. Manage a caseload across multiple school locations while meeting required timelines. Maintain confidentiality of student and family information. Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of pediatric and educational audiology practices. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Master's or Doctoral degree in Audiology (Au.D. preferred/required depending on applicable licensing requirements). Current Virginia Audiology license or eligibility for Virginia licensure. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A), as applicable. Experience working with children in a school, pediatric, clinical, or educational setting preferred. Knowledge of special education processes and IEP requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to travel between multiple school locations during the workday. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, if required for travel between assigned schools. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing audiological services in a public-school environment. Experience working with students with disabilities. Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, and educational accommodations. Experience with hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM/DM systems, and other assistive listening devices. Pediatric audiology experience. Bilingual skills are a plus. Physical/Work Requirements Ability to travel between school locations. Ability to transport and operate audiological testing equipment as needed. Ability to work in school, classroom, clinical, and office environments.
