SY 26‑27 School Based Registered Behavior Technician (Pool) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Primary Function: The School‑Based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with Paraeducator Duties provides direct support to students with special needs, primarily through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions, and assists with various paraeducator responsibilities. The role enhances the learning experience and social development of students with diverse needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. Reports To: Program Manager, Department for Specialized Instruction Salary Schedule: Grade 106 Work Days: 200 Requirements Education: GED or a standard high school diploma from a GaDOE‑approved institution. (Preferred: Associate degree from an accredited college or university.) Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Experience, Skills, and Certifications (Required) Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school setting. Knowledge of ABA principles and behavior intervention strategies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students with diverse needs. Ability to work with clients of multiple ages, skill levels, and behaviors. Essential Duties Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Support: Implement individualized ABA programs developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group instruction to support behavioral and academic targets. Collect and record data on student progress and behavior. Collaborate with BCBAs, autism interventionists, teachers, and other professionals to develop and modify behavior plans. Assist in the creation of program plans and materials. Paraeducator Duties: Assist teachers and students with classroom tasks, including classroom management, instructional support, and resource preparation. Support students with special needs in inclusive settings, ensuring access to curriculum. Provide physical, emotional, and academic support for students with disabilities. Accommodate individualized education programs (IEPs) and work with special education staff. Behavior Management: Implement behavior management techniques, reinforcement strategies, and de‑escalation methods per student‑specific behavior intervention plans (BIPs). Monitor and promote positive behavior and social interactions. Respond to crisis behavior calmly and professionally. Maintain confidentiality regarding student behaviors. Report behavioral concerns to the BCBA and other staff. Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication with classroom teachers, special education staff, and team members. Collaborate with autism program support staff to ensure students receive positive behavioral supports. Attend team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities. Contribute to the development of progress reports and student evaluation processes. Safety and Inclusivity: Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel respected. Follow school policies on safety, confidentiality, and student well‑being. Assist with students’ mobility and personal care needs (toileting, feeding). Assist classroom teacher with non‑instructional duties such as breakfast/snack/lunch time, bathroom, and clothing routines. Perform other duties as necessary for organizational effectiveness. Terms of Employment Incumbents will be considered “at will.” Pay is determined by Grade 106 and experience. Work calendar: 200 days. Class is NON‑EXEMPT (New 12‑2023). Physical and Sensory Demands Classroom setting: prolonged periods of standing or walking, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching; occasional lifting or restraint of a student. Occasional heavy lifting up to 25 pounds. Sitting or standing extended periods with no control over rest periods. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
