Infant/Toddler Fully Qualified Teacher

Fully Qualified Teacher (Infant/Toddler) Under the direct supervision of the ECE Administrator, Fully Qualified Teachers (FQT) are responsible for providing a warm, caring, calm, orderly, safe, and healthy early learning environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the non-subsidized Early Education program. FQTs may be assigned to work in a classroom with children from birth through 12 years or as a support teacher across all age groups. FQTs are required to provide high-quality care, supervision, and educational experiences to all children. FQTs are responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Teacher’s Aides, as assigned to their classroom. Status:$21.50 Reports To:ECE Administrator Reporting Staff:Teacher’s Aide Core Responsibilities Support and uphold Maryvale’s Mission, Vincentian Core Values, and Trauma-Informed Care philosophy, recognizing the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledging the role that trauma has played in the lives of the clients/residents Assist in the healing process by developing appropriate RICH® (Respect, Information, Connection, and Hope) relationships with those served Follow OSHA regulations, Universal Precautions, and all safety policies. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and respectful communication with staff, children, and families. Participate in quality improvement efforts and department goals. Support Maryvale’s Performance & Quality Improvement Plan by participating in program goals, data collection, and evaluation. Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and positive early learning environment that supports each child’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development.. Design developmentally appropriate classrooms aligned with program goals, Maryvale philosophy, and ERS standards (Level 5+). Plan and deliver culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate activities using Creative Curriculum, collaborating with the teaching team as applicable. Provide virtual learning opportunities (e.g., email, online platforms, video) to support children’s development; Maryvale owns all educational content and may be used for program and outreach purposes. Ensure constant visual supervision of children in accordance with policies and Title 22 regulations. Maintain health and safety standards, including sanitation, safe sleep, recordkeeping, allergy management, and food program compliance. Conduct parent conferences (at 60 days and every 6 months) and communicate regularly and professionally with families across multiple channels. Maintain accurate and timely child records, including daily reports, observations, behavior logs, and DRDPs. Complete 21 hours of annual professional development and maintain records in the Workforce Registry. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding concerns, questions, or safety issues; fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities. Supervise and mentor Teacher’s Aides, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Collaborate with colleagues to foster a cohesive and supportive team environment. Demonstrate compassionate, patient, and empathetic service in all interactions. Maintain strict confidentiality of child and family information. Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving in alignment with Maryvale policies to ensure child safety and well-being. Respond appropriately to emergencies, including calling for assistance and remaining on campus until children are safely released or authorized to leave by leadership. Transport children (School Age program only) to/from school and field trips, following all required training and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Current immunizations and active fingerprint clearance. Minimum of 12 ECE/Child Development semester units, including core courses (Child Development; Child, Family & Community; Curriculum) and Infant/Toddler coursework. Alternate coursework may be accepted for School Age teachers, in accordance with Title 22 requirements (transcripts reviewed). At least 6 months of experience working with children (paid or unpaid). Commitment to ongoing professional growth, including maintaining a development plan and completing 21 hours of professional development annually. Must be eligible to advance to Associate Teacher by obtaining a valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing permit and applying when positions become available. Physical Requirements Perform duties that include walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and using hands to handle objects; frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and engaging in active classroom movement. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds as needed. Visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
