We are currently looking for a Part Time 29 Pharmacy Intern to join our Outpatient Pharmacy Team team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.

Summary: This position is located within the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health with the duty station at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. The purpose of this position is to provide clerical, administrative and technical support to the Pharmacy Department.

Responsibilities: Compounds and dispenses prescriptions, check drugs, dosages, dosage forms, labels and provides complete instructions on the correct use and storage of all medications. Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, therapeutic duplications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, drug-laboratory interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose. Develops special formulas and/or extemporaneous compounds and provides drug distribution to patients. Provides drug information to Medical, Dental and Nursing staffs on therapy and drug related matters and patient education as to proper use of drugs. Provides accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the professional staff. Interprets medical information and applies it to resolve problems or answer questions. Counsels patient and/or family on medications when needed. Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners and documents all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely and detects, assesses, and reports suspected adverse drug reactions. Suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed. Makes dosing recommendations. Obtains medication histories from patients, caregivers, and health care providers. Maintains due diligence in evaluation of scheduled medications to prevent diversion or patient abuse. Performs a report on OK Aware to monitor patient scheduled drugs history. Performs duties of a pharmacist but cannot perform the final check of the medication before giving to the patient - Fills and labels medications (including CII's) - Performs inventory - Processes prescriptions under pharmacist supervision - Assists in DUE/DUR - Must report their intern hours obtained in according to their State licensing Board and College of Pharmacy. Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency. Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities. Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types - Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment - Maintains and promotes professionalism - Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics - Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards - Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area - Participates in performance improvement activities to measure, assess and improve the quality of assigned work area - Performs all other duties as assigned

Able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines. Knowledge of relevant privacy regulations such as The Privacy Act, Freedom of Information Act and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management. Nonessential: Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy operations

Skills: Essential: Basic Computer skills

Experience: Essential: No prior experience required

Education: Essential: High School, GED or Equivalent. Must be currently enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy

Credentials: Essential: Pass general background check. Oklahoma Pharmacy Student Intern License

Working Conditions: Essential: Works in a pharmacy setting. Standing up to 100% of shift. Sometimes lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. May work day shift. May work holidays. May work weekend shift. Pass pre-employment drug test. Must not have either misdemeanor or felony drug related convictions
