About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a fintech infrastructure company to identify a Senior Software Engineer for an Identity & Trust platform team.

This is a foundational backend engineering role focused on building scalable, cloud-native systems that support identity, customer lifecycle, compliance context, entitlements, and trusted access across a complex financial technology platform.

This is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys solving deep platform problems, designing resilient backend services, and building systems that can support regulated, high-scale financial products.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop distributed, cloud-native backend services that power key identity, trust, compliance, and access management capabilities.
• Build foundational data models and APIs that serve as reliable systems of record for customers, entities, users, and related identity context.
• Help migrate identity and customer lifecycle logic out of legacy systems into resilient, observable, platform-first services.
• Implement core platform capabilities, including shared entitlements, compliance context, service contracts, and reusable integration patterns.
• Partner with Product, Compliance, Platform, and Engineering teams to define clear APIs, integration standards, and scalable backend architecture.
• Champion engineering excellence across architecture, code quality, testing, observability, reliability, and operational practices.
• Navigate technical debt thoughtfully while continuing to deliver high-value platform capabilities.
• Own technical delivery for complex features and influence cross-team engineering decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend systems.
• Deep hands-on experience building and operating modern, cloud-native, highly available distributed systems.
• Proven ability to design and deliver complex features within large-scale systems, ideally in regulated or compliance-heavy environments.
• Strong API design and integration experience, including REST and/or gRPC, with a focus on clear, reusable service contracts.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience with container orchestration such as Kubernetes, ECS, or similar technologies.
• Strong technical ownership and ability to drive delivery across complex backend systems.
• Ability to reduce technical debt while balancing business priorities, migration work, and long-term platform health.
• Strong collaboration skills and experience partnering across Product, Compliance, and Engineering teams.
• Interest in fintech, identity, trust, compliance, payments, or regulated financial infrastructure.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot, or a similar robust backend stack such as Go, Kotlin, C#, Python, or Rust.
• Experience with event-driven architecture such as Kafka, SNS/SQS, or similar messaging systems.
• Experience with identity platforms, customer lifecycle systems, entitlements, KYC/KYB, compliance systems, or verification workflows.
• Domain knowledge in fintech, regtech, banking infrastructure, payments, trust, identity verification, or compliance-heavy products.
• Experience building platform services that support multiple products, business lines, or acquired systems.
• Experience working in fast-moving, high-growth technology environments.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary range for this role is: $168,000 – $210,000 USD

Final compensation will depend on experience, location, level, and overall fit. Equity, bonuses, and additional compensation may also be included as part of the broader compensation package.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA with a hybrid work model.
