*$ Charge Nurse - Endoscopy - Full Time #corehire Shift: 6:30am - 3:00pm *Position may qualify for employee referral bonus. $10K Sign on bonus with three years experience as RN. $5K with 2-3 years experience as RN. Job Description: PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Unit Director/Clinical Manager, the R.N. Charge Nurse independently provides holistic, individualized care using the Nursing Process for patients routinely seen on the unit. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View Medical Center's Department of Patient Care Services and the Nursing profession in a positive manner. Is responsible for the coordination of quality patient care through the implementation of the nursing process on a shift basis. Specific areas of responsibility include, but may not be limited to: serving as a resource person, role model, mentor, assuring therapies and treatments are given as ordered, immediate oversight of staff assigned to that unit, assisting in staff development, and direct communication with the Clinical Managers and Department Director of the unit as well as Administration as appropriate. Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be knowledgeable in basic computer skills. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Must have and maintain current American Heart Association BLS certification. Must have and maintain ACLS certification or obtain within six (6) months of assignment to department. A national certification will be identified and the time frame to complete the certification will be approved by the respective Leadership within 90 days of accepting the position (applies only if Charge RN is the employee's primary position).
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
*Indicates Essential Function
1 * Makes patient care assignments utilizing Benner's Novice to Expert.
2 * Coordinates staffing needs with the Clinical Manager and/or the Staffing Coordinator/Nursing Supervisor.
3 * Coordinates breaks and lunches to provide a reasonable ratio of experienced and orienting personnel to provide ongoing patient care.
4 * Coordinates with the Director or Clinical Manager/House Supervisor in times of high census as patients are triaged to a lower level of care to include discharge.
5 * Directs and coordinates patient admissions, transfers and discharges with assistance as appropriate. Ensures adherence to the "30-Minute Admission Rule" for all ED admits.
6 * Co-assigns PRN and "float" nurses with Unit Based Resource staff. Completes Orientation checklist & turns in to Department Leadership at end of shift. Ensures that Float Nurse(s) has appropriate assignment and also has a positive experience.
7 * Ensures appropriate staff response to all "Code" situations.
8 * Meets all requirements of the Endoscopy staff R.N. job description and successfully completes corresponding competencies.
9 * Identifies Quality Improvement opportunities on the unit and shares those ideas with the Department Director/Clinical Manager. Encourages participation of team in QA/PI activities and processes.
10 * Flexes staff up/down based on scheduled caseload-maintains appropriate resource use by monitoring staff and patient changes. Takes patient assignments when needed to balance patient care.
11 Attends daily bed meetings (0900 & 1500) to assist with patient admissions as appropriate for individual unit.
12 * Assists Manager by providing input towards employee annual performance evaluations.
13 * Maintains current knowledge and clinical skills in area of specialty and all required competencies. Able to function in a trainer role for all staff.
14 * Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
ENDOSCOPY SUITE SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
