Required Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved Medical Terminology Course
Experience:
- 6+ Months of Scribe experience
Certifications:
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Heartsaver (CPR AED)required upon hire and maintained, OR
- AHA Heartcode BLS for Healthcare providers accepted in lieu of Heartsavercertification

Key Responsibilities:
The primary role of the medical scribe is to collaborate with the clinical care team in the
documentation of a patient's electronic medical record as well as acting as an assistant in
facilitating patient care. Scribes may physically interact with the patient and family under the
direction of a Care Team Member.


1.
Accompanies members of the care team during patient interviews and examinations.
2.
Documents in the electronic medical record elements delegated by the care team includingbut not limited to patient history, examination, or ongoing care.
3.
Documents the correct time of patient care-related activities such as assessments, vitalsigns, or interventions.
4.
Provides comfort aids such as pillows, blankets, and fluids upon patient request if approvedby the care team.
5.
Assists in the acquisition of supplies as directed by the care team.
6.
Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs,expectations, age, cultural and individual differences.
7.
Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the health care team andpromotes effective team functioning.
8.
Responds to patient's call lights.
9.
Stocks patient rooms with gloves and stocks PPE cabinets.
10.
Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
11.
Demonstrates dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
