Overview The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants at UCSF‑GoHealth Urgent Care centers, performing X‑ray services, patient preparation, and administrative duties to support patient care and clinic operations. Responsibilities Key duties include: Performing and analyzing patient X‑rays and reporting results to providers. Positioning patients correctly on or in front of equipment and providing protective measures. Preparing patients for examination, conducting interviews, verifying information, and recording medical history. Performing preliminary physical tests and point‑of‑care testing as needed. Maintaining and calibrating radiographic equipment, managing quality assurance logs. Completing administrative tasks such as electronic record entry, chart scanning, and patient follow‑up. Collaborating with ordering providers to determine imaging views and support clinic operations. Maintaining radiation safety standards and implementing ALARA protocols. Qualifications High‑school diploma required; graduation from an approved Radiologic Technologist program required. Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at hire, obtained through American Red Cross or American Heart Association. American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration at hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required if mandated by state law. Essential Functions Perform X‑ray services under clinical provider direction. Ensure correct positioning, protection, and comfort of patients. Conduct patient interviews, record vital signs, and refer critical cases to provider. Perform point‑of‑care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) as needed. Maintain accurate medical records and electronic documentation. Conduct daily equipment controls, calibration, and preventive maintenance. Collaborate with providers for optimal image acquisition and support clinic workflow. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of X‑ray procedures, protocols, anatomy, physiology, and equipment safety hazards. Ability to position patients properly and adjust radiographic controls for high‑quality images. Skills in troubleshooting equipment problems, infection control, and radiological safety procedures.
