Project Manager - Utilities Construction

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee underground utilities construction projects from planning through completion. Based primarily in Kearneysville, WV, this role coordinates field leadership, customers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with Snyder Environmental Services' quality and performance standards. Regular travel throughout Northern Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and other project locations is required. This position requires the candidate to reside local to these areas.

Responsibilities

• Manage underground utilities construction projects from startup through closeout.
• Plan, organize, monitor, control, and report project status in accordance with company and client requirements.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, costs, and overall performance.
• Plan project resources, including manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with customers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, field supervision, and internal teams.
• Review construction drawings, plans, and specifications for completeness and general compliance.
• Monitor progress and prepare project status reports, updates, budgets, schedules, and forecasts.
• Manage scope changes, cost impacts, documentation, and change orders.
• Review project costs, analyze project information, and resolve cost differences.
• Coordinate field and office activities to address issues and maintain project progress.
• Visit customers and project sites as needed to support execution and communication.
• Ensure assigned projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality expectations.

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management; a 2-year degree in engineering technology with 5+ years of related experience; or 10+ years of related construction or project management experience.
• Experience with construction scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and change orders.
• Ability to read and understand construction and engineering plans and specifications.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing project conditions.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout Northern Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and other locations as required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of utilities construction project management experience.
• Experience managing civil, site, or utilities construction projects.
• Experience with construction scheduling, cost estimation, budget forecasting, and change order management.
• Construction plan reading experience.
• Experience with Heavy Job, Heavy Bid, or similar construction and project management software.
• Strong client communication and problem-solving capabilities.
