Material Handler

Under direct supervision, performs routine and specific production duties to include materials management and/or finished goods assembly work and ensures compliance with packaging specifications. Contributes to ensuring safe working practices are followed and proposes ideas for simplification and standardization of the workplace. Shares ownership in achieving world‑class performance and continuous improvement of production. Accountable for helping to achieve strategies and goals of becoming the world‑class, low cost/high quality producer of choice. Opens supply boxes, places component parts and supplies in the proper location on the production line, and accurately processes material returns in the Mary Kay Business Systems. Verifies counts to ensure and maintain inventory integrity. Assists in inspecting product for defects before and after assembly, marks and transports rejects to the crusher area for destruction, and operates a pallet jack to move completed pallets to the finished‑goods area safely. Cleans and sanitizes processing equipment including pumps, parts, hoses, gaskets, kettles, metal and polymer drums, and plastic containers following defined Standard Operating Procedures. Disassembles, sanitizes, and reassembles pumps, colloid mills, and portable tanks. Utilizes the clean‑in‑place (CIP) system for hoses and portable tanks, and transports sanitized equipment to the appropriate area. Participates in setup, sanitization verification, daily start‑up, tuning, change‑over, and preventive maintenance to ensure proper operation of machinery. Packages sanitized parts and transports them to storage. Attaches sanitization labels and completes necessary documentation. Monitors equipment for expiration dates and re‑sanitizes expired equipment as needed. Climate control environment. Start wage – $17/hr. Education High school diploma. Experience 1 year of working experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Must be able to read and write English, understand basic instructions, and communicate information to others. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, as demonstrated by successfully passing a math test needed to process requisitions, calculate material returns, troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, and ensure proper coding. Must have basic PC skills in a Windows environment to operate the computer system and possess data‑entry skills for utilizing various computers and Mary Kay Inc. Business Systems. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and actively participate in meetings and discussions or problem‑solving. Must follow and demonstrate daily all safety rules and regulations applicable to the lines and packaging floor. Must be detail‑oriented to ensure the accuracy of components supplied for the production lines, as well as accurate day coding or other related coding required by packaging specifications, accuracy in processing requisitions, monitoring inventory usage, troubleshooting discrepancies, and calculating material returns. Must be able to visually inspect component parts for compliance with quality standards; check day codes, product labeling, and match product with the appropriate carton. Must be able to stoop, lift, bend, and move 50 lbs to provide production lines with component parts, transport product and pallets, place re‑shippers on pallets, assemble pallets, and fill hoppers with component parts and products; may be required to operate a pallet jack to move pallets to the finished‑goods area. Must be able to stand and walk approximately 50% of the time and bend, stoop, and lift 50% of the time to supply the production line with component parts, boxes, and supplies; inspect product pallets; and move product and/or rejects to the appropriate location. Must have the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, walk frequently to pack product into cartons, inspect component parts fed into the production line, feed components into the line, assemble pallets, and fill hoppers with component parts. Must be able to routinely climb step ladders and platforms to reach equipment loading points or clear jammed equipment. Must have the ability to perform repetitive movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers for sustained periods of time, as demonstrated by passing a manual dexterity test. Must be able to pack product into cartons, pack re‑shippers with finished product, feed components into production lines, and reach across conveyors or hoppers. Must meet all production, quality, and safety standards as defined by the department for this job.
