Sr. Risk Analyst (Oil/Gas Commodities)

Primary Services is actively recruiting for the role of Sr. Risk Analyst for a large enterprise client within the commodities trading sector. This role is in a highly analytical environment where you'll use advanced risk tools and methodologies to support daily trading oversight, valuation accuracy, and exposure monitoring. The role requires strong technical capability in market risk reporting and a deep understanding of trading workflows, and is responsible for ensuring data integrity and consistent risk analysis across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize the ETRM system (RightAngle) to produce daily mark-to-market valuations, risk positions, basis changes, and profit and loss reporting.
• Analyze and explain daily P&L fluctuations and position exposure across trading portfolios.
• Ensure compliance with trading limits and internal risk control frameworks.
• Support setup and maintenance of trading strategies within RightAngle to ensure accurate trade capture and reporting.
• Validate pricing inputs and identify discrepancies or missing market data impacting valuation accuracy.
• Develop and maintain standardized procedures for deal entry, reporting, and middle office operations.
• Collaborate with Finance, Credit, and IT stakeholders to strengthen risk reporting integrity and system functionality.
• Assist in testing and implementation of system enhancements and reporting improvements within ETRM platforms.
• Provide training and guidance on deal entry processes to ensure accurate trade capture and downstream reporting.
• Contribute to reconciliation processes between financial statements and risk-based valuation outputs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in financial services, energy trading, or commodities risk environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and advanced data analysis functions.
• Experience with ETRM systems, preferably RightAngle.
• Strong understanding of mark-to-market valuation, market exposure, and risk reporting concepts.
• Familiarity with pricing validation and trade lifecycle processes.
• Ability to interpret and analyze trading data sets and P&L drivers.
• Experience supporting middle office or risk control functions within trading environments.
