Emergency Room Technician

The George Washington University Hospital (GWU Hospital) is a 385-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC next to the Foggy Bottom metro. Emergency Room Technician is responsible for: Providing care to assigned patients, according to established plan of care and as competency documentation designates, under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse/Team Leader and/or Emergency Department Attending Physician.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency Successful completion of a state-approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course that meets or exceeds the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for the Emergency Medical Technician is preferred. Successful completion of the cognitive and psychomotor exam for the National Registry of EMTs at a Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic level 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience as an emergency room technician or at least one year of experience as a primary EMS field provider or military equivalent BLS through American Heart Association, American Red Cross Able to speak and write English fluently Demonstrated communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
