Senior Front End Engineer, Platform

Role Description

ezCater is hiring engineers to build modern product and administrative experiences on top of shared platform services. This role is front-end leaning, with a strong focus on web application architecture, user workflows, design systems, API integration, and high-quality product delivery.

ezCater is a B2B marketplace for business catering. We are building a ground-up re-architecture of our platform – a headless, channel-agnostic core with AI as a cross-cutting layer. The stack is modern and intentional: Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka (MSK), Temporal, Vespa, SpiceDB, EKS. The front end is a first-class product — every API surface is designed to be consumed by multiple channels (marketplace, internal tools, partner API). We are looking for engineers who are fluent in an AI-native SDLC.

This role is ideal for someone who is strongest in front-end technologies and can work comfortably on a scalable and maintainable frontend platform. We are looking for an engineer who is self-driven, adaptable and excited to build scalable and maintainable solutions to support our growing business needs.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain frontend platform, component library and web applications using modern front-end technologies such as TypeScript, React, and Next.js
• Build reusable UI patterns, design tokens, components, and evangelize engineering guidance
• Build and maintain a frontend platform that is machine-readable and API-first to serve AI agents alongside human users, with awareness of emerging commerce protocols (MCP, Universal Commerce Protocol)
• Apply AI effectively throughout the software development lifecycle, including implementation planning, coding, review, testing, and quality improvement
• Partner with product, design, and engineering peers to turn ambiguous requirements into well-scoped, high-quality deliveries
• Own quality through testing, accessibility, observability, performance, and safe rollout practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional development experience
• Strong software engineering experience building production web applications
• Deep fluency in Next.js (App Router), React, TypeScript, and modern build tooling (e.g., Turborepo, Rspack), with hands-on architectural credibility
• Experience collaborating with product design to build Design Systems that include tokens, theming, cross-platform consistency, documentation for human and AI consumers
• Experience designing front-end architecture, shared components, and maintainable application patterns
• Strong fluency with AI-assisted software delivery and clear judgment about where AI helps and where rigor matters most
• A practical understanding of AI-native workflows, including structured context, iterative loops, and high-quality review and testing practices
• A strong quality mindset across testing, accessibility, performance, telemetry, and production ownership
• Strong communication and a high-ownership approach to technical execution
• Ability to travel up to 5 days per quarter for Together Weeks, team gatherings and other events, when applicable

Nice to Have

• Experience with design systems, component libraries, and front-end platform patterns
• Experience with BFF layers, contract-driven development, or event-driven product architectures
• Experience helping teams adopt more effective AI-assisted engineering practices
• Comfort working across the stack, including reading and contributing to backend services when needed
• Experience integrating with backend APIs and working effectively across service boundaries

Compensation

The national total target cash compensation range for this position, including base salary and bonus target, is $158,000–$190,000 annually. Please note: Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise and region & may vary from the amount above. This range does not represent additional compensation benefits (such as equity, 401K or medical, dental or vision insurance).
