To assist bus driver in transporting students, safely and efficiently, to and from their school sites and/or special events. Understand and follow written and oral instructions. Maintain order on the bus while children are being transported. Assist children on and off the bus at proper stops in a safe, orderly manner. Establish good working relationships with the children, parents, bus driver and other staff. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
(1) High School Diploma or equivalent or currently enrolled in GED program.
(2) GED requirements must be met within three (3) years of hiring date.
(3) Must be trained in CPR and First Aid.
(4) Must be trained in current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
(5) Must provide written references upon the request of the Superintendent. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
(1) Knowledge of highway and traffic safety.
(2) Ability to operate light and/or heavy-duty buses in a safe and economical way.
(3) Ability to understand and carry out both written and oral directions.
(4) Ability to exercise appropriate disciplinary techniques.
(5) Ability to follow a daily routing schedule.
(6) Assists children in getting on the bus and to assigned seats.
(7) Ensures all passengers are properly restrained while riding the bus.
(8) Maintains order and behavior of children on the bus so the driver will not be distracted from safe driving.
(9) Maintains a positive, calm attitude and a soft voice while on the job.
(10) Protects all children from physical punishment or verbal abuse by anyone in any program activity, and immediately reports any such incident to driver.
(11) Assists the children in getting off the bus safely.
(12) Releases children only to persons listed on the Child Release Form, and requires identification from any unknown or new person on the list.
(13) Notifies the driver of concerns regarding the children?s health, behavior, or emotional state.
(14) Learns bus route and makes the substitute driver aware of it when necessary. COMPENSATION: $5,000 Supplement School/Location LCSD Transportation & Maintenance
