A high school or its equivalent and seven (7) years of professional or paraprofessional experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, agriculture, international affairs, leisure services, business or industry development, the travel industry or in hotel or restaurant management; or A bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in marketing, business, merchandising, economics, agriculture, international affairs, leisure services, or communications and three (3) years of professional experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, agriculture, international affairs, leisure services, business or industry development, the travel industry or in hotel or restaurant management; or A master's degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in business administration and two (2) years of professional experience as described above. EDUCATIONAL NOTE: Graduates utilizing education attained in the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position will not be appointed until verification of the applicable degree has been obtained. Foreign trained graduates utilizing a degree attained outside of the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position must be prepared to provide a copy of a credential evaluation conducted by an Approved Credential Evaluation Agency. Moderate travel required. Must be able to travel up to 50% of scheduled hours. Monthly travel will vary based on activities scheduled. Some weekend and evening travel required for attending meetings, events and conferences. Must be willing to obtain additional training appropriate to job functions.NOTES:

Some weekend and evening travel required for completing reviews and attendance/presentations at conferences and meetings.JOB DUTIES:
General: Coordinate activities, events and award programs to promote the Florida Farm to School initiative and school gardens across the state. Facilitate relationships with and provide assistance to School Food Authorities (SFAs) and agriculture teachers to increase school garden participation and nutrition education. Promote all division programs through outreach activities and events. Coordinate regional meetings for school districts and teachers encouraging Farm to School practices. Work to connect the Florida Farm to School network by helping schools identify partners to execute on-site gardens. Help schools with best management practices for growing on school property. Provide technical assistance with procurement for the Farm to School program in schools on National School Lunch Program (NSLP) in accordance with state and federal regulations. Develop reports on each school’s level of participation and progress of expansion in Farm to School. Create targeted plans of action and execute plans for districts with low participation. Responsible for school garden and nutrition education activities, such as the Harvest of the Month program, school garden programs/events and school garden census. Attend school garden and/or nutrition education events. Coordinates the development of the annual Florida Farm to School Conference, including identifying speakers, farm tour sites, coordinating with internal staff and finalizing the programming. With support of the Director of Outreach, develops the communication plan to all speakers and attendees. Establishes and maintains the Florida Farm to School website and a Florida Farm to School: School Garden stakeholder network and database for outreach, communications and tracking existing school gardens. Establishes direct relationships with retailers, growers, teachers and community partners. Fosters relationships in the existing network and conducts outreach on behalf of the Florida Farm to School Initiative including tabling events, speaking at conferences and hosting office hours. Coordinates and maintains special projects, such as school garden trainings, Farm to School grants, Virtual Town Hall Webinars, pilot projects, etc., and provide technical assistance and evaluation of potential pilot programs. Attend events, meetings and conferences to promote division initiatives and programs. Attend subject matter expert trainings. Work with the Director of Outreach to develop relationships with community partners, non-profits and governmental organizations directly related to agriculture and Farm to School program. Serve as one of the liaisons to the National Farm to School Network, School Garden Support Organization, Florida Agriculture in the Classroom, 4H through UF/IFAS and other state and national Farm to School organizations. Complete monthly and quarterly reports, as needed. Assist with the emergency management functions of the bureau during periods of disaster. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Skill in analyzing and interpreting data for program effectiveness. Skill in providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Ability to work in a setting requiring self-motivation/cooperative decision-making and to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines while maintaining extreme attention to detail. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to plan, organize and work independently, as well as within a team environment. Ability to adapt successfully and quickly to change and deliver quality results in a timely manner. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion. Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality.
