  1. Assemble surgical instruments and equipment based on the procedure and the surgeon's preference.
  2. Provide surgical instruments such as sponges, sutures, and solutions as requested by surgical staff.
  3. Monitor safe handling and disposal of sharp and biohazardous materials.
  4. Screen patients for completeness of preoperative documentation.
  5. Transport patients from hospital units to the operating room.
  6. Position the patient for the specific surgical procedure.
