Certified Surgical Technician

We have two operating departments with 26 rooms and a level one trauma unit. The main base will be in a 7-room unit, but floating may be required when needed. The typical load in the 7-room unit includes: General surgeries, mostly hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, PEG placements, and GI work. Colorectal procedures include open and laparoscopic bowel resections, and some robotic surgeries. Gynecological surgeries consist of oncological and benign open, laparoscopic, robotic procedures, D&C, hysteroscopy, LEEP, and tubal ligations. Urology procedures include cystoscopies, stent placements, TURB, TURP, percutaneous procedures, open, laparoscopic, and robotic nephrectomies and cystectomies, including gender affirmation surgeries. Breast surgeries involve biopsies and mastectomies with and without reconstruction. Ocular surgeries include plastic surgeries, cataracts, and vitrectomies, typically done three times a month. Brachytherapy involves assisting with device insertion, primarily conducted by the radiation oncology team. Plastic surgeries usually occur in conjunction with breast or gender affirmation surgeries. Uro-genital surgeries include slings and anterior-posterior repairs. Robotic surgeries are predominantly in Urology and GYN, with some bariatric procedures. The unit operates Monday to Friday, often finishing by 7-8 PM. If the schedule ends too early, staff will float to the main operating room to complete the day or assist when short-staffed. Weekend obligations include two call shifts per contract, with no other weekend requirements.
