Controller

Join a leading real estate fund in New York, managing a diversified portfolio of real estate assets across the United States. As part of a dynamic team, you will oversee property accounting, fund-level reporting, and collaborate on various projects. This role offers exposure to multiple asset classes, diverse ownership structures, and opportunities in tax planning and investor-specific projects.

Role / Responsibilities

• Manage accounting and reporting for real estate investments and joint ventures.
• Oversee assistant controllers and portfolio accountants in financial review processes.
• Review asset acquisitions, dispositions, and financing entries.
• Conduct quarterly consolidations and financial reporting.
• Lead year-end audit and financial statement preparation.
• Ensure debt compliance and analyze loan documents.
• Collaborate with corporate accounting and performance measurement teams.
• Work closely with internal asset and portfolio management teams.
• Coordinate with third-party service providers.
• Handle investor requests and client interactions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in real estate portfolio accounting/audit.
• CPA required.
• Public accounting experience required (Big 4 preferred).
• Team management experience required.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and data management.
• Experience with MRI or Yardi, Workiva or Anaplan, REIT structures, and private equity is a plus.
