Job Summary

Community Clinic is seeking a Phlebotomist /Lab Technician for our Community Clinic Primary & Specialty Care Clinic on Holly St. The The Phlebotomist/Lab Tech obtains and processes laboratory specimen so as to provide accurate measurement of patient status for the health care provider evaluation. Additional responsibilities include basic lab duties, as needed. This position is Full-Time, in person, and scheduled Monday-Thursday 8:00a-6:00p and Friday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for collection of all blood, urine and throat swab specimens with assistance of licensed staff as needed.
• Collects all specimens according to CLIA, OSHA and Blood Born Pathogens rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as indicated.
• Collects and manages specimens and reports according to clinic policy.
• Performs waived lab tests ordered by provider per clinic procedures or manufacturers’ instructions.
• Assists with performing/managing applicable testing quality control and instrument maintenance.
• Maintains supplies and equipment necessary for obtaining and processing laboratory specimens.
• Maintains sterile instruments using proper sterilization techniques and procedures.
• Maintains patient flow during clinic so as to assure prompt service for patients.
• Adheres to applicable regulations and standards such as those governed by OSHA, HIPAA/HITECH, CLIA, NCQA PCMH Arkansas Department of Health radiology regulations, or any other regulations as necessary for the proper operation of assigned duties performed in the Clinic.
• Ensures that Community Clinic will not cause or allow any organizational practice, activity, decision or circumstance which is unlawful, imprudent, and negligent, contrary to mission, vision or policies or in violation of commonly accepted nonprofit or professional ethics.
• With respect to the treatment of users, our Clinic’s Staff may not cause or allow conditions, procedures, or decisions that are unfair, unsafe, undignified, discriminatory or preferential, or fail to provide appropriate confidentiality.
• Ensures that Community Clinic protects our IRS tax-exempt status (501(c)(3) at all times.
• Ability to travel for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops. Must be able to travel by air as needed to attend training, conferences, and related activities, including overnight travel.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Lab/Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Experience in the healthcare field with knowledge of practice management systems, organizational structure, and patient flow preferred.
