Mechanical Engineer - Tunnel Ventilation and Fire life Safety

Job Summary HNTB is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the New York City office. The role focuses on tunnel ventilation and fire & life safety across tunnel, highway, transit, and rail projects. What You'll Do Complete assigned work within the schedule and hours provided. Support preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations. Assist in project quantity and cost estimates. Assist engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files. Support with research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects. Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Need Bachelor's degree in Engineering. What You'll Bring Perform calculations for fan capacities and pressure requirements. Perform calculations to establish smoke and heat movement in underground environments. Perform egress calculations. Establish design parameters from which design drawings, specifications, and reports are generated. Develop drawings and specifications primarily related to underground transportation. Undertake design and analysis support for tunnel fire and life safety systems including tunnel ventilation, standpipe, and deluge systems. Draft technical reports in a range of engineering areas, including feasibility studies, basis of design reports, and technical analysis. Work towards professional qualifications. What We Prefer Master's of Science degree. Certified as a Fundamentals of Engineering professional or a Professional Engineer. Experience with Autodesk Revit for tunnel and underground facilities.
