Field Safety Specialist – Heavy Civil Construction

Location: Laredo / Carrizo Springs, TX Area Salary: $85,000–$110,000 Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Housing & Travel: Housing and project-related travel expenses provided for candidates traveling into the area

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Field Safety Specialists to support a large, multi-year heavy civil construction project in the Laredo / Carrizo Springs, Texas area.

The project includes more than 60 miles of barrier construction along with patrol road construction and repair, bridge construction, boat ramps, electrical and lighting systems, ground-detection systems, and associated infrastructure.

This is a hands-on field safety position supporting construction activities across a large, geographically dispersed project. Candidates should have strong construction safety experience and be comfortable working around heavy equipment, excavation, lifting operations, roadway work, subcontractors, and other heavy-civil construction hazards.

Responsibilities

• Perform field safety inspections across active construction areas
• Identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented
• Support Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), pre-task planning, and daily safety activities
• Monitor excavation, heavy equipment, lifting, traffic control, roadway, and related construction operations
• Provide safety oversight for subcontractors and field crews
• Assist project leadership with maintaining compliance with OSHA and project safety requirements
• Document safety observations, deficiencies, corrective actions, and field activities
• Work closely with field supervision to proactively identify and mitigate construction hazards
• Support safety initiatives across multiple active work areas along a large linear construction project

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience
• OSHA 30 required
• Heavy civil, roadway, utility, pipeline, linear infrastructure, or similar construction experience strongly preferred
• Experience with field inspections, AHAs/pre-task planning, subcontractor oversight, and corrective actions
• Working knowledge of excavation, heavy equipment, lifting operations, traffic control, and similar field hazards
• Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 preferred
• Federal construction experience preferred but not required
• Ability and willingness to travel to and live in the Laredo / Carrizo Springs area for the project
• Ability to work effectively across a large, geographically dispersed construction site

Compensation & Project Support

• $85,000–$110,000 annual salary, based on experience
• Housing provided for candidates traveling into the project area
• Project-related travel expenses provided
