MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR I

Summary You will serve as a MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR I in the PUBLIC WORKS BUSINESS LINE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST. You will serve as a MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR I in the PUBLIC WORKS BUSINESS LINE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST. Duties You will plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. You will establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. You will be responsible for assuring that schedules are met, resources are coordinated and the distribution of workload is balanced to provide optimum operational cost and performance at maximum customer satisfaction. You will be required to provide a cost estimate, completion date and give technical (consulting) assistance as required. You will coordinate pre-construction actions with other departments. You will evaluate working conditions in all work areas supervised, addressing occupational hazards in shops and work sites. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Assisting with a multi-trade workforce (including maintenance mechanics, plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and carpenters); Having some understanding of facility maintenance operations across multiple disciplines (HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, facility maintenance) to assist with assessing work, assigning tasks, and ensuring quality control; Assisting with work orders, planning projects, and allocating resources; Helping with administrative tasks for a work center, which includes payroll and timekeeping.
