About the Job:

The Optical Systems Repair Technician provided diagnosis, repair, calibrations, and technical support for Bristol Instruments optical instrumentation.  This work can be for warranty, routine calibrations, or paid service work.  Bristol Instruments value proposition to our customers includes strong customer support and timely service of our instruments.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot issues down to the component level.

• Align lenses and mirrors.

• Utilize diagnostic tools to ensure systems meet performance specifications.

• Ability to create / improve processes.

• Perform precise assembly of electrical, mechanical and optical components.

• Install electrical parts and hardware in assemblies using soldering equipment and hand tools.

• Ensuring adherence to technical specifications and verbal instructions.

• Must be capable of reading and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, work orders and test procedures.

• Inspect parts for physical defects.

• Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.

Core Qualifications :

  Experience : Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the diagnosis and repair of electro-optical (Fizeau and/or scanning michelson interferometer) systems or similar high-precision technologies.

• Technical Skills : Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment and software. Experience with optical components is also highly desirable.

• Communication skills: Able speak and write with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical persons.

• Education : High School Diploma or GED required.

• Attention to Detail : Strong focus on precision and quality in all aspects of work. Ability to follow detailed instructions and technical documentation.

• Team Player : Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment while managing individual responsibilities.  A “will learn/can-do/will cooperate” attitude is essential.
