Student Services Specialist Sr Job ID: 322444 Location: Mesa Community College Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Hiring Salary Range: $20.61 - $26.80 hourly, DOE Grade: 111 Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm; some evenings and weekends may be required Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7am-6pm Work Calendar: 12 Months Job Summary The Recruiter serves as a brand ambassador for Mesa Community College, advancing enrollment goals by building and nurturing relationships and delivering student-centered outreach. The role connects with prospective, interested, new, and returning students, families, and community partners through high‑school visits, campus tours, college fairs, community events, presentations, programming, and personalized outreach via email, phone, text/chat, virtual, and in‑person communication. The Recruiter develops and leads engaging presentations and enrollment events that inspire students and clearly communicate MCC’s programs, opportunities, and pathways. Through proactive follow‑up and individualized and group support, the Recruiter guides students through each stage of the enrollment process, helping them transition smoothly from prospect to enrolled student. The role contributes to increasing conversion rates by ensuring students receive timely, accurate information and feel supported and confident in their decision to attend MCC. Using enrollment technologies and customer‑relationship‑management systems, the Recruiter manages outreach workflows, tracks student engagement and events, completes recruitment activities, and monitors progress toward enrollment goals. By leveraging data and technology, the Recruiter helps ensure efficient processes and measurable outcomes that support institutional priorities. Adaptable, collaborative, and student‑focused, the Recruiter thrives in a fast‑paced environment and represents MCC with professionalism and enthusiasm. The Recruiter demonstrates a team‑oriented mindset by proactively stepping in to support colleagues and address emerging needs. Essential Functions Recruitment, Outreach, and Enrollment Guidance Develops, coordinates, and implements strategies for recruiting new and returning students aligned with enrollment goals. Builds and maintains relationships with partner high schools, community organizations, workforce agencies, and strategic partners. Plans, coordinates, and delivers recruitment events, campus tours, presentations, programming, and outreach programs. Meets with students in person or virtually to provide individual or group support. Outreach Represents MCC at college fairs, community events, high schools, and other outreach opportunities. Performs outreach via phone, text, email, and other tools. Engages prospective students from first inquiry through enrollment, providing guidance on admissions, transfer pathways, financial aid, scholarships, and course selection. Data Management, CRM, and Market Analysis Uses CRM and other systems to track prospective student engagement. Performs data analysis, market research, and prepares reports to assess recruitment and enrollment strategies. Develops targeted campaigns for prospective students, recent stop‑outs, and retention initiatives. Cross‑Departmental Collaboration and Special Projects Works collaboratively with enrollment services, academic programs, marketing, and other departments. Provides support for cross‑functional initiatives and special events such as peak enrollment periods, new student welcome sessions, orientation, and dual enrollment onboarding. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services, college teaching experience, or experience assisting with educational program development, coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. Equivalent combinations of degree and experience may satisfy the requirements. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Experience in recruitment, outreach, customer service, or a sales role with measurable results. Experience planning, coordinating, or participating in presentations, workshops, tours, college fairs, events, or orientations. Experience using technology tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM platforms, or similar systems. Experience building and maintaining professional relationships with students, customers, partners, or community members. Experience managing multiple tasks, deadlines, or projects in a fast‑paced environment. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred. One year of relevant full‑time MCCCD experience during the previous two years. Special Working Conditions Work schedule varies during the year: August through mid‑May, Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour days; mid‑May through the end of July, Monday‑Thursday, 10‑hour days. May require evening and weekend hours. Required to sit or stand for prolonged periods and view a computer monitor. May be required to travel or be assigned to another MCCCD location. Travel to campus during interview/selection at the candidate’s own expense. MCC does not sponsor work visas.
