Job Description

Therapist – Day Treatment & Community Programming

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor

Classification: Full-Time or Part-Time, Exempt/Non-Exempt (Based on Employment Status)

Position Summary

The Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality clinical services to youth and families participating in Right Direction Behavioral Health Services' Day Treatment Program, Summer Therapeutic Program, and other agency-sponsored therapeutic programming. This position serves as the primary clinician assigned to these programs and is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, individual and family therapy as indicated, group facilitation, crisis intervention, documentation, and ongoing coordination of care.

The Therapist plays an essential role in ensuring clinical integrity within programming while promoting emotional wellness, behavioral stability, social-emotional development, and successful community functioning.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Services

• Complete comprehensive Diagnostic Assessments and mental health evaluations.
• Develop individualized, medically necessary Treatment Plans.
• Complete Treatment Plan Reviews and updates according to agency and payer requirements.
• Administer required Outcome Measures and reassessments.
• Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy as clinically indicated.
• Conduct crisis intervention and safety planning when necessary.
• Collaborate with psychiatry, QMHS staff, case managers, schools, caregivers, and community partners.

Day Treatment Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary therapist assigned to the Day Treatment Program.
• Provide therapeutic oversight and consultation to Day Treatment staff.
• Conduct daily or scheduled therapeutic groups.
• Meet individually with participants as clinically appropriate.
• Monitor participant progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
• Participate in treatment team meetings.
• Assist in discharge planning and transition planning.

Summer Program Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups throughout the Summer Day Treatment Program.
• Provide therapeutic support during community outings and structured activities.
• Complete required documentation related to services provided.
• Coordinate with caregivers regarding participant progress.
• Assist with behavioral interventions and crisis management during programming.

Fall & Spring Programming

• Facilitate evening or after-school therapeutic groups during the Fall and Spring seasons.
• Develop engaging curriculum addressing:

• Emotional regulation
• Coping skills
• Social skills
• Anger management
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Self-esteem
• Trauma-informed care
• Healthy relationships
• Problem-solving

• Monitor attendance and participant engagement.
• Complete all required group documentation.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain documentation in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code, Medicaid, Joint Commission, and agency standards, including:

• Diagnostic Assessments
• Treatment Plans
• Treatment Plan Reviews
• Progress Notes
• Group Notes
• Outcome Measures
• Care Coordination documentation
• Discharge Summaries
• Safety Plans
• Clinical correspondence

• Ensure documentation is:

• Accurate
• Timely
• Clinically appropriate
• Completed within agency deadlines

Care Coordination

• Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding treatment progress.
• Coordinate with schools and outside providers.
• Participate in multidisciplinary staffing meetings.
• Make referrals to additional services as clinically indicated.
• Follow up with families regarding attendance, engagement, and continuity of care.

Quality Improvement

• Participate in supervision and clinical consultation.
• Maintain productivity expectations established by the agency.
• Assist with program development and implementation.
• Participate in agency trainings and continuing education.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.
• Current Ohio licensure (LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC, MFT, IMFT, or equivalent).
• Experience working with children, adolescents, and families preferred.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavioral interventions.
• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience facilitating therapeutic groups.
• Experience in community behavioral health.
• Experience working in school-based or day treatment settings.
• Familiarity with Ohio Medicaid documentation requirements.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
