Operations Supervisor

Overnight SupervisorThe Overnight Supervisor (M-F 6PM-3AM) will oversee and coordinate activities of workers engaged in operating machines that process (screen, sort, separate and bale) household recyclable materials such as metal, glass, plastic, paper and cardboard.Shift: M-F, 7AM-PM (Type: Full-Time) | Location: Tuscaloosa, ALBenefits:Health, Dental, Vision insuranceFSAVacation Time401k MatchingEmployee Assistance ProgramPaid Parental LeaveTuition ReimbursementResponsibilities:Develop familiarity with and ensure compliance with safety, health, environment and community company policies and procedures as they pertain to facility operations and equipment usage and operationObserve sorting, equipment operation, processing and bailing operationsAssign duties to workers according to production schedules and demonstrate safe, efficient use of equipmentInspect machinery and equipment to verify conformance to production standardsPrepare time, attendance and production reportsAbility to manage personnel (Approx. 16 employees) and lead by exampleMulti-task and willingness to learn all areas of operationsMust be able to lead process and quality teams on improving workflow and qualityEnter production data and other information on the computerPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Job Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent business experience requiredPreferred Job Qualifications:Previous supervisory skills in a diverse, fast-paced manufacturing/production environmentExcellent mechanical ability and strong analytical skillsDemonstrated ability to follow procedure and work from a set of written instructionsAbility to work in a plant processing environment for extended periods of timeStrong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsFlexibility required to work successfully on a teamActive individual who will be comfortable spending most of the day walkingBasic computer skillsGood time management and multi-tasking abilityMust speak and understand English; Spanish spoken and written fluency is a plusWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements:The normal work environment is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, and feel.Reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.The employee is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Must be able to work outside under extreme temperature conditions.
