Job Title: Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector performs detailed inspections and quality audits on production processes and finished products within a high-volume foundry and machining environment. This role identifies defects, supports sorting and containment activities, assists with root cause analysis of quality issues, and prepares test samples using basic shop equipment. The position also supports rework of castings and cores, completes quality and safety documentation, and helps maintain a safe, organized, and efficient production floor. Responsibilities Perform quality audits on production processes and finished products to ensure they meet specifications and standards. Inspect parts visually and dimensionally to identify defects, nonconformances, and irregularities. Support sorting and containment activities to segregate nonconforming product and prevent defects from reaching customers. Analyze quality issues and assist with root cause identification in collaboration with production and quality teams. Utilize measurement tools and testing equipment, such as x-ray systems and hardness testers, to evaluate product quality. Prepare samples for testing using basic equipment such as a bandsaw and lathe, following established procedures. Support rework of castings and cores as needed to bring products back into compliance with quality standards. Complete all required quality, safety, and maintenance-related documentation accurately and on time. Follow and enforce safety, environmental, and 5S standards on the production floor to maintain a clean and organized work area. Provide utility support across production and quality areas as needed, assisting with various tasks to keep operations running smoothly. Maintain reliable attendance and adhere to attendance policies, especially during the initial employment period. Essential Skills Previous manufacturing experience in a production or machine operator role (1+ year). Hands‑on exposure to quality activities such as auditing, inspection, or quality control in a manufacturing environment. Ability to perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections to identify defects. Experience working in a fast‑paced production setting with a strong sense of urgency. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate simple shop equipment such as a bandsaw and lathe. Ability to use measurement tools and testing equipment, including x‑ray and hardness testing devices, after training. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing inspections and documentation. Consistently reliable attendance, with the ability to adhere to strict attendance requirements. Ability to perform heavy lifting and work in a foundry environment that may be dirty, dark, and loud. Commitment to following safety, environmental, and 5S standards at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
